A house fire in East Chattanooga has displaced a family Friday afternoon.

No one was injured, according to the Chattanooga Fire Department. 

Chattanooga Firefighters responded to the house, located on the 1200 block of Hendricks Street just before 1 p.m. and saw heavy smoke coming from the roof of the house, a fire department news release states.

Firefighters tried to make an interior attack but then had to change tactics and use a ladder to reach the fire through holes cut in the roof, according to the news release.

The fire was under control within about 30 minutes, the news release states. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
