A San Francisco-based bookkeeping company for startups and small businesses will locate its new account management headquarters in Nashville, adding 450 jobs in Tennessee's capital city.

Pilot.com, Inc., said it will locate its new office in Nashville's Wedgewood-Houston neighborhood, joining other businesses started or once headquartered in California that have moved to Tennessee such as Nissan, CK&E, ICEE and, later this summer, Mitsubishi.

In the past five years, other San Francisco companies which have opened Nashville offices include Eventbrite, Google, Lyft, Postmates, Houzz, Wonolo, KeepTruckin and NomNomNow.

Founded in 2017 in San Francisco, Pilot.com specializes in freeing up founders and CEOs of companies from the process of keeping their company's books by providing software-based bookkeeping and customer support services to its customers.

The company has raised more than $55 million in Series A and Series B financing led by Index Ventures. Investors in Pilot.com include such world-known entrepreneurs as Patrick and John Collison, Drew Houston, Diane Greene, Frederic Kerrest, Hans Robertson, Adam D'Angelo, Paul English, Howard Lerman, Joshua Reeves, and Tien Tzuo.

"Nashville was always at the top of our list of candidate locations for a second office," said Jessica McKellar, Pilot.com founder and chief technical officer. "The city has great schools, attracts incredible, diverse talent, and is making smart investments to support its burgeoning startup scene. I also know first-hand that it's a great place to live and raise a family."

Gov. Bill Lee said the new facility will be the second in Nashville for Pilot.com.

"Tennessee continues to attract companies like Pilot.com because of our business-friendly environment and strong workforce," Lee said in an announcement of the new investment today.
