MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - A man has been charged with reckless homicide in the death of a 4-year-old child who police say was accidentally shot by another toddler in Tennessee.

News outlets report 27-year-old Nathaniel Wilkins told officers the gun was his and that he left it in a dresser drawer where the children could get to it. Police didn't release any information about Wilkins' relationship to the children.

Memphis police said in an affidavit that Ayden Robinson was shot Monday afternoon by the other child. The police department said the two children were playing alone when the shooting happened.

Online jail records didn't indicate whether Wilkins was represented by a lawyer who could comment on his behalf.

Police said gun locks are available free of charge at any precinct.
