The story of a woman mourning the loss of her would-be husband has gained international attention.
On Sunday, 22 year-old Sara Baluch and family members visited the grave of Mohammad Sharifi, the 24-year-old University of Tennessee at Chattanooga student who was gunned down last month at a Hixson apartment complex.
Baluch and Sharifi were supposed to marry Saturday, but instead, his loved ones gathered over the weekend at his gravesite outside of Nashville. Baluch, in her wedding dress, cried over his grave.
With permission from the family, the Times Free Press captured the intimate moment in detail.
By Monday, people around the world were expressing their condolences and prayers for the would-be bride.
"I'm so happy that Mohammad's life and worth is getting so much attention," Baluch said. "All I have wanted to do is melt in the ground, but we know that if we don't tell his story and the life he was supposed to have, he will only be forgotten."
"This is the only good news we've gotten since everything has happened."
