The City of East Ridge announced Thursday night that it has released Police Chief J.R. Reed, according to a news release.

The administration for the City "determined the separation with Chief Reed was deemed necessary," after several months of investigation. Reed was placed on administrative leave after being accused of violating "three or four" policies in November.

Reed is a nearly 30-year veteran who was appointed chief in 2014.
