It took Chattanooga firefighters less than 30 minutes to snuff out a house fire in the 100 block of Amhurst Avenue around 3 a.m. Monday.

The first firefighters on the scene reported "significant flames" at the rear of the home, Chattanooga Fire Department spokesman Bruce Garner said.

Firefighters worked quickly with hand-held hose lines to get the blaze under control in about 20 minutes, Battalion Chief Nate Middlebrooks said.

The cause of the fire has been ruled accidental.

The fire investigator says the fire started on or near a charcoal grill and then spread to the exterior of the house, according to a news release from Garner.
