Traffic stop on Alabama Highway 40 in DeKalb County leads to large quantity of cocaine seized, three arrests

DeKalb County, Alabama, deputies seized an estimated three-quarters of a pound of cocaine during a traffic stop on Alabama Highway 40 last week.

Devonte Allison, 25 of Huntsville, was charged last Thursday with trafficking an illegal drug and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a news release from Sheriff Nick Welden. Drug Task Force agents, who joined in the operation, and confirmed the weight of the seized drug.

Welden said two other people were also arrested on drug charges during traffics stops the same night on Highway 40.

Demarvin Wilson, 25, of Atlanta, Georgia, and Antonio Johnson, 27. of Kannapolis, North Carolina, were both charged with second degree possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. The arrests were made in separate traffic stops, according to officials.

"I'd like to commend our deputies on their hard work and attention to detail," Welden said. "This is a large amount of cocaine that won't make it to its destination."
