East Ridge City Manager Chris Dorsey gave taxpayers good news over the weekend: the upcoming city budget will not include a property tax increase.
At Mayor Brian Williams' monthly citizen meeting Saturday, Dorsey told about 30 residents that he expects the budget to be presented on June 13 and have a final reading on June 27.
The 2019-20 East Ridge budget is $24.5 million, which includes seven segregated revenue funds. The current general operating budget in East Ridge is $13.6 million and the millage rate is 1.338 per $100 of assessed value.
Williams, in his first term as mayor, holds a Saturday meeting monthly at different East Ridge location.
During the meeting, he addressed several other issues, including the temporary closing of the Waverly Hotel and the planned $125 million Red Wolves development.
