It was Friday evening during rush hour when two men were spotted wrestling on the side of Interstate 24 westbound by commuters.
A video of the two was posted to Facebook and has since gone viral.
Police have determined Joseph Koehler, 42, was the aggressor and has been charged with assault. The victim was also arrested, but not in connection to the road rage incident. He was booked for a 2015 seat belt violation.
The victim, 32-year-old Alexander Nicolou, told police he was trying to merge onto the interstate and had to ride the shoulder until he managed to force his way into traffic and in front of Koehler.
Koehler "felt he had been cut off," court records state. And both Nicolou and witnesses told police that Koehler kept braking in front of Nicolou.
Once traffic came to a stop just before Exit 181, Koehler got out of his vehicle and punched Nicolou multiple times.
Police noted Nicolou had abrasions to the left side of his head and blood on his right hand.
Koehler was arrested and taken to the Hamilton County Jail for booking. His bond was set at $2,000.
