A 17-year-old from Madison County, Alabama, was killed Sunday when the 2012 Ford Focus in which she was a passenger left the road and struck a culvert and overturned, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency spokesman Curtis Summerville said in a news release.
The teen passenger was pronounced dead at the scene, and the 17-year-old driver of the Ford Focus was transported to an area hospital for treatment of her injuries, Summerville said.
The crash occurred at 2:15 a.m. CDT on U.S. Highway 72 less than a mile west of Huntsville. ALEA troopers continue to investigate the crash.
