Cannabidiol, more commonly known as CBD, seems to be everywhere these days. Used for pain relief, anxiety reduction and a myriad of other health issues, the hemp-derived oil has been increasingly sold in several states.
CBD is available for purchase by itself, or as an ingredient in food and skin products. However, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration is still collecting information on the compound, and a hearing held earlier this year has been seen as an important step toward clarifying regulations around it.
Because CBD doesn't currently fall under regulation standards, users can't know for sure that what they're buying actually contains the ingredients listed. But some groups are working to standardize the process of independently evaluating and certifying CBD products.
Until then, people should be aware of CBD marketing, potential side effects and should consult with a doctor before use.
Here's where you can find CBD products in the Chattanooga area.
