A Georgia State Patrol trooper was arrested Wednesday on charges of false statements and writings.

Timothy Williams, after an investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Dalton Police Department, was arrested in Whitfield County.

On September 16, the GBI started a public official's investigation on Williams requested by the Dalton Police Department.

The investigation came after the Dalton Police Department responded to a Dalton residence to investigate an open line 911 call.

The initial investigation showed that Williams was possibly in a physical altercation with someone else at the residence.

Williams was arrested and booked into the Whitfield County jail Wednesday and the GBI investigation is ongoing.
