A car chase in Dade County Tuesday night ended with two people falling off a cliff after they fled from deputies on foot.

The chase started on Interstate 24 in Dade County when deputies noticed that a vehicle turned off its headlights after it passed the squad car.

As the deputy caught up, the vehicle sped up and headed toward Marion County, Tennessee.

The vehicle then took the Haletown exit and turned back around to head toward Dade County.

After chasing the vehicle off the interstate, deputies said they saw the vehicle park in a driveway and two people then ran into the woods.

The responding deputy of the Dade County Sheriffs Office said he heard screaming and found a man and a woman had fallen down a 30-foot cliff.

The woman was taken to an area hospital by ambulance and a man had to be flown to a hospital.

Sergeant Chad Payne with the Dade County Sheriffs Office confirmed that the vehicle being driven was reported stolen from Chattanooga.

The names of the victims are being withheld and the investigation is ongoing.
