A couple in their 20s who became lost on Lookout Mountain after it became dark on Sunday evening were rescued without injuries by emergency officials.

The two hikers, who were not named, left from the Craven's House and got lost along the way. Around 7:15 p.m. they called 911 and dispatchers were able to locate their cell phone signal for a GPS location to give to rescuers, according to Chattanooga Fire Department public information officer Lindsey Rogers. The department's Quint 14 set up command at Sunset Rock because that was the closest location for the hikers to come out.

Two firefighters made their way into the woods, located the hikers and brought them out with the help of the Lookout Mountain Police Department and park rangers, Rogers said. The two hikers were not injured but asked for water and a ride back to their car, he said.

Fire officials thanked Lookout Mountain and Hamilton County Special Tactics and Rescue Services for responding to help.
