One person was killed Saturday afternoon in a shooting that involved as many as six Hamilton County Sheriff's Office deputies.

Deputies on Saturday responded to a home in the 7900 block of Sue Drive in Ooltewah on a call involving a suicidal person, according to a news release. The shooting happened around 2 p.m.

"One suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene and all Sheriff's Office personnel involved are safe and accounted for," the release states.

The person shot was later identified as 76-year-old James Hilton Glaze, according to police.

Police said Glaze allegedly "produced a weapon and pointed it at the deputies," the news release states. "They responded, shooting Glaze, who died at the scene."

No one else was injured, authorities said.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation will look into the shooting at the request of Hamilton County District Attorney Neal Pinkston's Office.

"The deputies involved in the Incident will be placed on administrative leave with pay as per agency policy," the release states.
