ORIGINAL STORY: Few details have been released about the circumstances surrounding the death of a man whose body was found in Cleveland, Tennessee, on Monday afternoon.

The man, identified as 38-year-old James Ledford, was found by two people in a 1995 Chevrolet S10 extended cab pickup truck. It was parked on a rocky gravel drive in a far corner of the Fort Hill Cemetery just off the 1000 block of South Ocoee Street, partially hidden by trees between the Hiwassee Mental Health Center and the cemetery. His death is being investigated as a homicide.

Jaclyn Markcloud - also known as Jaclyn Carroll - was last seen with him in the truck, police said, but they haven't been able to find her. She's been reported as missing and endangered, and police are asking for the public's help in locating her.

Police haven't confirmed whether she is a suspect or another victim, simply that she may be in danger and they need to talk to her.

The truck in which Ledford was found was originally white. But investigators later determined it had recently been spray painted black. It is missing the hood and has a manual transmission.

Police Chief Mark Gibson said on Tuesday that Ledford had injuries consistent with gunshot wounds, but police are waiting for the autopsy to be completed to confirm the cause of death.

It's not clear if he was killed where the truck was found or at a separate location.

"We believe this individual was targeted by specific individuals for specific reasons," Gibson said, adding that there isn't a concern for public safety at this point.

Ledford had been in the truck for more than a day, Gibson said. His family hadn't spoken to him in days.

Police previously said they were initially unable to confirm an identity because of the way the body was concealed in the vehicle. Gibson and police spokeswoman Sgt. Evie West were unable to elaborate any further to avoid compromising the integrity of the investigation.

Police sometimes withhold important details in order to know when someone has first-hand information during an investigation.

Some details they have released, though, include that multiple people are believed to be involved.

"Those individuals, we've worked all night and we have a very specific list of individuals that we're looking for and are interested in talking to that we believe have knowledge or are involved," Gibson said. "We've got a lot of people on the ground. The bottom line is this is going to come out, so we encourage them to do the right thing and come forward, because it's just a matter of time before we're going to be talking to them, anyway."

Anyone with information, "no matter how insignificant you think it is," Gibson said, should call the Cleveland Police Department at 423-476-7511 or 423-476-1121.
