Authorities in west Georgia arrested a woman Tuesday who has been exposed to the coronavirus, but refuses to self-quarantine.

Fran Gore had been ordered to isolate herself after her boyfriend tested positive for the virus, the Haralson County Sheriff's Office said.

Gore's boyfriend tested positive last week, but refused to stay home, the sheriff's office said over the weekend. The man called 911 on Friday and was taken by ambulance to the hospital for treatment for coronavirus symptoms, investigators said.

Gore, who was also in the hospital for Sunday for non-COVID symptoms, was spotted Tuesday in Tallapoosa, and citizens called authorities. Gore was arrested Tuesday evening.

"Due to the fact that she has been directly exposed to COVID-19, we are unable to house her in our jail because we cannot expose other inmates to this virus," the sheriff's office posted on Facebook.

Instead, Gore will be housed by herself in a camper to avoid potentially spreading the virus to others.

"We have been supplied with a camper that has been set up on a secure lot located at the rear of the jail. The camper has water and power and the female will be housed there," the sheriff's office said. "She will be guarded at all times and our jail staff will be given any equipment necessary for their safety while guarding this inmate."

Gore's charges were not released late Tuesday.

"These charges will not keep this individual jailed forever, but hopefully we will be able to detain her through the completion of her quarantine period," Chief Deputy Joel McSwain said in a press release. "I understand the uncertainty that our citizens are experiencing, but we still must respect the rights of those who, for whatever the reason, feel that their actions do not effect others."

On Saturday, a soldier who was absent without leave from Fort Gordon in Augusta was arrested for allegedly driving drunk and violating the shelter-in-place order.

The Georgia State Patrol charged Christian Lee Robinson, 20, with reckless conduct, saying he violated the shelter-in-place order Gov. Brian Kemp put into place to slow the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. Robinson is also charged with DUI, obstruction of officers, possession of alcohol by a minor, fleeing or attempting to elude police officer, reckless driving, speeding, open container and failure to maintain lane, Coweta County jail records show.
