SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) - A 17-year-old has been formally charged in the shooting death of his 13-year-old girlfriend in Georgia.

Jeremiah Seaton was indicted Wednesday on a felony murder charge in the death of La'Meya Mitchell, news outlets reported.

She was found dead from multiple gunshot wounds outside of a home in November 2019. Seaton, then 16, surrendered and confessed, Savannah police said. He was transferred to the Chatham County Jail after he turned 17 in December, news outlets reported.

The indictment also includes charges of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. It's unclear whether he had an attorney who could comment on his behalf.
