MOSHEIM, Tenn. (AP) -- A Tennessee school bus driver involved in a crash has been charged with driving under the influence and possession of a controlled substance, authorities said.
Sandra Bible Lamons, 55, of Bulls Gap was driving a Greene County Schools bus on Wednesday afternoon with five children aboard when the vehicle went off the road after rounding a curve, The Greeneville Sun reported, citing a preliminary crash report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol. The bus hit an embankment and rolled on its side.
The bus was carrying students from Mosheim Elemetary and Middle School. One student suffered a minor lip abrasion, Mosheim Volunteer Fire Department Chief Harold Williamson said.
Lamons told first responders she was not sure how the crash occurred, Williamson said.
Police performed a field sobriety test on Lamons before she was arrested, the crash report said. It did not say what controlled substance she allegedly possessed.
Lamons is scheduled to appear Friday in General Sessions Court. It wasn't immediately clear whether she has a lawyer.
