NEWNAN, Ga. (AP) -- A Georgia man has been arrested and accused of killing four people and possibly two others in a string of shootings that started Thursday, authorities said.

Nicholas Martez Nelson, 38, was charged with four counts of murder, but additional charges are pending, said authorities with the Coweta County Sheriff's Office and the Newnan Police Department on Monday.

Newnan police Deputy Chief Mark Cooper said officers responded to a shooting Saturday evening in a parking lot where they found Warner Mandrel Parks, 39. He was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.

Police said the shooter was driving a gray Ford Crown Victoria and later, the car was connected to Nelson and found at a Red Roof Inn.

After his arrest, police connected Nelson to the deaths of three unidentified victims, who were found in a room at Motel 6. The bodies were found Sunday but police determined the victims were fatally shot Friday.

Police suspect Nelson was also involved in the Thursday shooting death of Willie Edward Bussie III, 39, and Kevin Duane Robbins, 43. It's unclear how police connected Nelson to the killings on Thursday.

Additional details on the shootings or Nelson's connections to the victims were not immediately released.

It's unclear whether Nelson had an attorney who would comment on his behalf.
