BESSEMER, Ala. (AP) - An apparent drive-by shooting left one teenager dead and three others wounded near Birmingham, authorities said.

Gunfire erupted Monday afternoon at a house in Bessemer, located just west of Birmingham. An 18-year-old was killed, and three other males ages 13, 16 and 18 were wounded, said Lt. Christian Clemons, a police spokesman.

A woman was injured in a separate shooting a few hours later nearby, and police say they're trying to determine whether that shooting might have been linked to the earlier one.

"It's another senseless shooting, Bessemer Police Chief Mike Roper told al.com. "It comes from the wrong people having guns."

Authorities didn't immediately release any of the victims' names, the conditions of the people who were wounded or a possible motive.
