ATLANTA (AP) -- Two boys allegedly attempting to break into a vehicle at an Atlanta Waffle House were shot and wounded Monday night by the car owner, authorities said.

Atlanta police said officers responded to a shooting in the Waffle House parking lot around 10:30 p.m. Monday, news outlets reported.

Police said two juveniles were attempting to break into a car, when the owner came outside, saw what was happening and began shooting toward the vehicle.

The two boys fled and were later found at a gas station, where they were both suffering from a gunshot wound to their leg, police said.

The pair was hospitalized and listed in stable condition.

Police said the car owner was detained and charged with aggravated assault for "recklessly" firing the gun. The two boys will be charged with entering an auto.

Details on the car owner and the juveniles weren't immediately released.
