Exotic cats recaptured after escaping home, roaming Alabama

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - Two African Servals that escaped captivity from a north Alabama business last week have been found and recaptured.

Both cats were found Wednesday and are now back home at 256Exotics in Huntsville, cuddling together in an enclosure, WHNT-TV reported. The business reported the animals missing in a Sept. 12 social media post.

Servals can grow as large as 2 feet tall (61 centimeters) and weigh up to 40 pounds (18 kilograms). They typically have small heads, large ears and a yellow coat with black spots and stripes, Al.com reported.

Alabama is one of 18 states where residents can own African Servals without a license.
