MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — A Tennessee jury has convicted a man of wounding his boss after being fired from his job at a fast-food restaurant, a prosecutor said.

The Criminal Court jury on Wednesday convicted Kevin D. Owens, 24, of attempted first-degree murder and using a firearm with intent to commit a dangerous felony, Shelby County District Attorney Amy Weirich's office said.

Hours after being fired in April 2020, Owens went to his boss's apartment and confronted him, Weirich's office said in a news release Thursday. During an argument, Owens pulled a handgun and shot the victim, who was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Owens, who was on probation for a 2016 robbery conviction, is to be sentenced Oct. 26.
