McKENZIE, Ala. (AP) -- Two weak tornadoes caused the scattered damage that was left in south Alabama by storms that moved through Sunday, the National Weather Service said.
A twister that first touched down on the west side of Interstate 65 shortly before 5 p.m. at the Owassa exit damaged fencing near the highway before lifting and touching down again on a road where the roof of a structure was damaged along with trees.
About 30 minutes later, another storm destroyed a shed, damaged a mobile home and knocked down a power line near McKenzie, forecasters said.
Both tornadoes, which occurred in Butler and Conecuh counties, were EF-0 twisters with maximum winds of 75 mph (121 kph), a survey team determined. Straight-line winds caused additional damage.
No injuries were reported.
