Unum says survey gives glowing report

A new survey conducted by independent research firm JHA shows Unum customer satisfaction outpacing the industry average in 20 our of 24 categories for its long-term disability claims process, and five out of 23 categories for its short-term disability.

Jack McGarry, senior vice president for risk management operations, said Unum's commitment to providing better benefits at work was evident in the survey results.

"Our promise is to provide superior customer service to the people who turn to us at claim time, and the results of this survey reflect that pledge," Mr. McGarry said.

The survey found 91 percent of customers were "satisfied" or "very satisfied" with Unum's claims handling.

Key categories included timeliness of payments, keeping claimants informed, courtesy and ease of reaching claims specialists.
