VW announces 120 more jobs at Chattanooga plant

Volkswagen officials said today that at least 120 more jobs will be created at the automaker¹s Chattanooga plant.

Frank Fischer, chief executive of VW¹s Chattanooga operations, said the new jobs will go into a building under construction called the market delivery options facility. He said that's where spoilers, special wheels or other enhancements are made to vehicles before they¹re put on trucks or train cars for delivery to dealers.

VW officials said that employment at the plant is expected to reach between 2,000 to 2,500 workers by late next year. Also, there could be a number of contract employees who do landscaping or other work around the plant.

Production at the auto assembly plant is slated to begin early next year.
