North Shore restaurant offers butter-free crepes

What: Crepes

Company: Crepe-a-Delic

Address: 137 River St.

Owners: Thompson Galetovic

What's special: Crepe-a-Delic crepes use a butter-free batter, which makes them surprisingly healthy, said owner Thompson Galetovic. "A lot of people assume crepes are bad for you or that they shouldn't be eating them, but if you get ... our butter-free batter, it's really much better for you than most things."

The origin story: The restaurant opened in early August with a three-day grand opening later that month. Its location is ideal, Galetovic said. "I realized Chattanooga, particularly the North Shore, was the perfect environment," he said. "Finding a place like this ... was just serendipity in motion."

How long does a crepe take to make? 3-18 minutes.

Where it's sold: Crepe- a-Delic, the Chattanooga Market as well as through catering for private parties and public functions.

How long have they been making them? Galetovic, 23, was taught to make crepes by his mother when he was 9. The offering for which Crepe-a-Delic is named began when Galetovic was making crepes for a friend and mixed the batters for regular and chocolate crepes together. He called the mixture "crepe-a-delic" (a play on psychedelic).

Plans: Galetovic said he wants to continue marketing crepes to a broader audience, especially younger people.
