Barrington Pointe offers luxury in North Hamilton

photo These are some of the homes that occupy Barrington Pointe, a subdivision in the northern part of Soddy-Daisy.

• Name: Barrington Pointe

• Location: This upscale neighborhood is north of downtown Soddy-Daisy, adjacent to Possum Creek. Children may attend North Hamilton County Elementary, and Soddy-Daisy middle and high schools.

• Age: Three years old

• Status: 30 homes have been built and two are available for purchase, with five homes under construction. Two more are scheduled to start within weeks, leaving just more than 60 lots available. Homes are a mix of custom and spec construction, with an emphasis on custom work.

• Price: Homes cost from $400,000 to as high as $3 million for 3,000 to 4,500-square-foot dwellings. Most houses are four bedrooms, three-and-a-half-bath structures on at least half an acre.

• Features: Travertine tile, granite countertops, custom cabinetry, real stone fireplaces and triple-trey ceilings are just a few of the standard features in these luxury abodes. An optional home theater installation with surround sound, showers with built-in natural steam vents, keystone molding and multigable roofs are touches that builder Tim McClure said he likes to build into his homes.

• Amenities: Private lots and lake views are available in what McClure calls "the best-selling area in North Hamilton County," all with lit wrought-iron mailboxes and access to a children's playground. The water is three to four minutes away off Lee Pike, and Chattanooga is a 25-minute drive down U.S. Highway 27.

• Fees: Homeowners association fees are $300 annually for private lots and $400 a year for water lots, which covers upkeep of the grounds and stocked pond.

• Developers/builders: McClure Development
