Life Care Centers hopes to open a Rhea County nursing home this year

• Name: Life Care Center of Rhea County.

• Location: Life Care, which opened a nursing home in 2009 in the former Rhea Medical Center at 7824 Rhea County Highway in Dayton, Tenn., is building a new home at 10055 Rhea County Highway, at the north end of Dayton, to replace the existing home by the end of the year.

• Status: Contractors have started adding roofing on the skilled, nursing and assisted-living facilities, upon the 16.45 acres. Construction is scheduled for completion later this year.

• Price: Estimated at $16.8 million.

• Features: The 89-bed nursing home also will consist of a 30-unit assisted-living offset, or separated wing, to the nursing home facility.

• Amenities: Residents will have a large rehabilitation gym they can use, which features state-of-the art equipment such as the AlterG treadmill and Biodex.
