Chattanooga based The Dixie Group on Monday announced a small first-quarter loss of a penny per share, or about $104,000, after sales of $62.8 million.
Reduced sales from the first-quarter of 2011, when the company moved almost $70 million in carpet, trimmed earnings by about $744,000.
Dan Frierson, chairman and CEO of Dixie, attributed much of the reversal to a shorter quarter.
"Dixie had a year-over-year sales improvement of 2.6 percent, adjusted for a 13-week versus 14-week fiscal period last year," Frierson said.
