The Krispy Kreme Doughnuts on Brainerd Road closed Monday for two months of renovations. The store needs modernization and upgrading, and should reopen in mid-April.

The shop will continue to provide doughnuts to area grocery stores and convenience stores, but won't be selling hot doughnuts out of its Brainerd Road location.


Chattanoogan earns AAA award

The Chattanoogan hotel received the AAA Four Diamond Award for the seventh year in a row, one of only 15 hotels in Tennessee to be recognized with the title.

"We at the Chattanoogan are extremely pleased to have received this distinguished rating consecutively since 2008," said Tom Cupo, regional managing director. AAA uses on-site evaluations and inspectors to produce the ratings, which are based on service, surroundings and amenities.


RTC warns of phone scam

Some Ringgold Telephone Company (RTC) customers have reported that they are receiving fraudulent calls from individuals claiming to be collections agents for RTC. These individuals are demanding immediate payment for past due telephone bills.

The phone company warns customers that such calls are a scam. Although RTC does offer a courtesy voicemail to remind customers about past due bills, RTC does not demand immediate payment through a live telephone agent.
