The states with the highest jobless rates for construction workers in June 2015 were:

1. Mississippi, 9.9 percent

2. Georgia, 9.4 percent

2. West Virginia, 9.4 percent

4. Rhode Island, 8.9 percent

5. New Mexico, 8.6 percent

Source: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and estimates for Associated Builders and Contractors Inc. Unemployment averaged 7 percent in Tennessee and 8.1 percent in Alabama for construction workers in June.
