Chattanooga-based Independent Healthcare Properties is expanding its Tennessee footprint by adding new facilities in Middle Tennessee.

The assisted and memory care senior living company began construction earlier this year on a 120-resident facility in Spring Hill, Tenn., south of Nashville on Interstate 65. A new 73-unit Morning Pointe facility is also set to open its doors early next month in Franklin, Tenn., another southern suburb of Nashville.

The Spring Hill facility has been in the works for more than 18 months and will be part of a larger, 140-acre active living community with residential and retail space. It will be located on Miles Johnson Parkway.

The Spring Hill facility will offer a full spectrum of assisted living and Alzheimer's memory care services. It will accommodate 80 assisted living residents and 52 memory care residents.

Construction of the facilty is expected to take about a year and create around 200 jobs and 125 permanent health care positions upon Morning Pointe's completion.

The new Franklin facility, in the meantime, is scheduled to host a ribbon-cutting on May 5, company officials said in a Thursday news release.

The Franklin facility is a two-fold project: Upon completion of the assisted living building, work will start on adding a Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer's Memory Care Center of Excellence and 44 additional apartments.

The Franklin facility is on 10 acres in the 1700 block of New Highway 96 West.

"The continued expansion of Nashville into Maury and Williamson Counties on I-65 offers an opportunity for Morning Pointe to serve additional aging seniors," said Greg Vital, president and CEO of Independent Healthcare Properties and Morning Pointe Senior Living.

"Morning Pointe's history of service in Tennessee began 15 years ago, and we are continuing that tradition by expanding further in Middle Tennessee," Vital said in an additional release.

Independent Healthcare Properties is the developer, owner and manager of 26 Morning Pointe Assisted Living and Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer's Memory Care Center of Excellence facilities across five Southeastern states.

The company was founded in 1996 by Vital and Franklin Farrow.
