Credit scores are on the rise and improved credit behaviors indicate a strong credit market, according to Experian's seventh annual State of Credit report.
The nation's average credit score is up four points - 669 to 673 from last year - and is only six points away from the 2007 average of 679.
The average American has a balance of $5,551 on their credit card.
Nashville - 664 average credit score with an average credit card debt of $5,333
Knoxville - 663 average credit score with an average credit card debt of $4,896
Chattanooga - 658 average credit score with an average credit card debt of $4,965
Jackson - 656 average credit score with an average credit credit debt of $4,195
Memphis - 642 average credit score with an average credit credit card debt of $5,251
