I have always believed that you are judged by the company you keep, and we restarted FSG by being involved with some of the best organizations in town.

We've all heard the three R's of school work. For Atlantic Capital Bank President Mike Kramer, the importance of the three Cs of business cannot be overstated.

Community. Connection. Consistency.

All three played a part for Kramer and Atlantic Capital Bank (ACB) - the new moniker on the turnaround story that is FSG Bank - to extend their branding deal through the 2020 athletic year with the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga athletic department.

Yes, Kramer is an unabashed sports fan - he played small college football and hockey and his family has had Pittsburgh Steelers season tickets since 1969 - so the success of the Mocs has been a definite benefit of the longstanding partnership. But the place UTC has in Chattanooga and among the business leaders here is every bit as important.

"We started with UTC in 2013 when we were rebuilding the image of the bank," said Kramer, who was head of FSG locally as the organization turned $150 million in problem assets into making a profit in less than two years before ACB bought FSG. The ACB grand opening of its Chattanooga offices - a spacious and luxurious venue that occupies a large part of the third floor of the North building of Warehouse Row - will be Thursday.

"I have always believed that you are judged by the company you keep, and we restarted FSG by being involved with some of the best organizations in town."

Some of those are the most recognizable sports brands. UTC, especially the football and the men's and women's basketball programs, will be supported in the coming seasons by the Atlantic Capital logos, which also can be seen at AT&T Field during Chattanooga Lookouts games and at Finley Stadium for the Chattanooga FC soccer matches.

The new deal between ACB and UTC is more than a money-for-monogram swap, according to UTC Athletic Director David Blackburn. It's a chance to continue a healthy business partnership for each side, he said.

"We are excited to have Atlantic Capital Bank continue their support of UTC Athletics. As the Official Bank of UTC Athletics, they have been instrumental in the success of our programs and we look forward to their continued involvement," said Blackburn. "As they transition into a new bank, we are transitioning into football season with a new coach. These are exciting times for both parties and we look forward to even greater opportunities on the horizon."
