For some children, getting their haircut can be as scary as getting a shot at the doctor's office or walking into their first day of kindergarten without mom and dad.
That is why Kelly Hailey and Sharon Hogan opened up the first Pigtails & Crewcuts Children's Hair Salon in East Brainerd and saw such success that they recently opened another location in the North Shore district, at 205 Manufacturers Road.

"He cried and it was hard to find a place where we could get his haircut here in town where he wasn't afraid," Hailey said. "We started going to a Pigtails & Crewcuts in Georgia and realized that we probably weren't the only family in Chattanooga with a child that struggled with haircuts, so we decided to bring the experience here."
There are 50 Pigtails & Crewcuts salon locations nationwide and every one includes vehicle-shaped chairs, is decorated with bright colors and includes books, movies, toys and video games for kids to enjoy before, during and after their haircut. The North Shore salon will also feature a retail section filled with children's hair products, accessories and gifts. It even offers birthday services.
The store provides haircuts for all ages, manicures and pedicures and styling. Prices range from $18.95 for one children's cut to $168 for a ten haircut package.
Hailey said they are excited to be in downtown and at the family-friendly Signal Mill development in North Shore.
"It's within walking distance of parks, and there is an ice cream store next door and a coffee shop nearby," she said. "It's a really cool location that families will love exploring."

Pigtails & Crewcuts Chattanooga-Northshore is open Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m.
