Fastest growing airports

Fastest growing major airports Among U.S. airports boarding more than 3 million passengers a year, the fastest growing in the past decade, due primarily to new hubs, expanded service and economic growth, were:

1. Dallas Love Field, up 90.4 percent

2. Austin-Bergstrom International, up 62.9 percent

3. Louis Armstrong New Orleans International, up 59.7 percent

4. San Francisco International, up 55.7 percent

5. Houston's William P. Hobby, up 54.2 percent

Source: Upgradedpoints for passenger boardings growth from 2007-2017. Nashville International Airport ranked No. 8 in growth with a 41.2 percent growth. Chattanooga's airport, which boarded 482,113 passengers in 2017, was too small to be included in the study.

Fastest shrinking airports

Airports like Memphis and Cincinnati that lost their hub carriers, suffered the biggest declines in passenger volumes

1. Memphis International, down 62.percent

2. Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky, down 50.9 percent

3. Ontario International, down 35.3 percent

4. Albuquerque International, down 25.5 percent

5. Cleveland-Hopkins International, down 20.2 percent
