Skytec names Carroll chief technology officer

Skytec, LLC, a three-year-old Chattanooga technology company that specializes in Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) mapping, inspection and data analysis, has named Andy Carroll as its chief technology officer.

Carroll had been with the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga since 2004, most recently heading the Interdisciplinary Geospatial Technology Lab (IGTLab). While at UTC, he managed a team that created high-end mapping applications for environmental and conservation needs.

At Skytec, Carroll directly oversees the company's data team and works closely with sensor technology, Skytec's unmanned aircraft fleet, and business development on a daily basis.

"I believe robotics and remote sensing technologies will dramatically help us better manage resources today and exponentially in the coming decades," said Carroll. "This is what we are doing at Skytec already, and the technology is really just in its infancy. I thoroughly enjoy being a leading organization for the use of 'drones for good.'"

Founded in 2015, Skytec combines UAS technology with cutting-edge imaging capabilities to acquire and analyze data so their clients can make the most informed major project decisions.
