Business insider ranked each state's economy based upon six measures of labor-market and general economic health, including the unemployment rate, job growth, per-capita GDP, GDP growth, average weekly wages, and wage growth.

1. Washington

2. Colorado

3. Wyoming

4. Hawaii

5. Utah

6. Texas

7. Massachusetts

8. Virginia

9. Iowa

10. Florida

Source: Business Insider. Georgia ranked 35th and Tennessee was ranked 21st best. Southern states were hurt by lower per capita GDP, which in Tennessee was $52,972 compared with U.S. average of $60,895
