What are the most valuable college majors? You'll be surprised.

The highest paying and most demanded jobs for those with bachelor's degrees are all in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) fields, according to a new study of 162 college majors by Bankrate.com. The overall average annual income for the college fields analyzed is $72,616.

1. Actuarial science, average income of $108,658 and only 22 percent have higher degrees beyond a bachelor's.

2. Zoology, average income of $111,889 but 68 percent have higher degrees beyond a bachelor's

3. Nuclear engineering, average income of $108,591 and 48 percent have higher degrees beyond a bachelor's

4. Health and medical prep programs, average income of $130,308 but 78 percent have higher degrees beyond a bachelor's

5. Applied mathematics, average income of $105,679 and 51 percent have higher degrees beyond a bachelor's
