Postmates, a popular food delivery service in cities throughout the United States, has announced its expansion into Chattanooga along with roughly 1,300 cities across the country.

The launch of Postmates in Chattanooga brings the total number of independent food delivery services in the area to at least nine. Postmates is a little bit different from other food delivery services though in that they will deliver from any restaurant a customer wants and not just partner restaurants - so delivery fees may just be higher.

According to their website, delivery fees range from $1.99–$3.99 for "Partner Merchants" - ones with the the green check mark next to their name, and $5.99–$9.99 for all other merchants. Unlimited delivery is available for $9.99 monthly or $7.99 per month when paid annually.

The Spot, Cadence Coffee Co., Edley's BBQ, Yellow Deli, Jefferson's and City Cafe Diner are just a few of the partner merchants listed on Postmate's website currently. Customers can deliver from their website or download the Postmates mobile app on the Apple Store for iPhones or Google Play for Androids.

"We want to enable anyone to have anything delivered on demand and this latest expansion allows us to deliver on that promise across all 50 states in the US," said Bastian Lehmann, Postmates co-founder and CEO.

A company spokesperson said Postmates offers delivery from more than 500,000 restaurants, grocery and convenience stores, as well as traditional retailers. The company now operates in more than 3,500 cities and offers delivery from 65 of the top 100 restaurants in the U.S.

Last year, UberEATS and WAITR expanded into Chattanooga. While most of the independent delivery services in Chattanooga base fees on how far away the restaurant is from a customer, WAITR has a $5 flat delivery fee.

To celebrate the expansion, Postmates has partnered with all independently owned Subway restaurants to give $5 off foot-long sandwich orders from April 22-28. For more information, visit postmates.com.
