Perdue is recalling more than 68,000 pounds of chicken nuggets because they may be contaminated with wood.

The gluten free Organics Breaded Chicken Breast Nuggets were produced on Oct. 25 and were sold at stores nationwide. They have a UPC bar code of 72745-80656 and the establishment number of P-33944 in the US Agriculture Department inspection mark.

The USDA says Perdue received three complaints that wood was found in the nuggets.

The USDA says there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions. However, the product should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

Trump renominates Ryder for TVA board

Nearly a year after first nominating John Ryder to the Tennessee Valley Authority board, President Trump is renominating the Memphis attorney for the 9-member TVA board after the 115th Congress failed last year to confirm Ryder's appointment.

Ryder, a former chief counsel to the Republican National Committee from 2013 to 2017, was among nearly 200 nominations for different federal agencies Trump sent to Congress this week. Many of the nominations were for those previously nominated but never acted on last year because of partisan squabbles and the year-end partial government shutdown.

If confirmed, Ryder would serve for the next two and half years for the seat previously held by Michael McWherter, the former Democratic gubernatorial candidate and son of former Gov. Ned McWherter.

Trump has named four of the current seven members on the TVA board. One other position is vacant, but Trump has yet to nominate anyone for the TVA post.

First Tennessee falls short of projections

First Horizon National Corp., the parent company of First Tennessee Bank, reported fourth-quarter net income of $97.9 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.

The bank, the biggest in both Chattanooga and all of Tennessee, said it had earnings of 30 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to 35 cents per share.

The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 36 cents per share.

The bank holding company posted revenue of $511.5 million in the period. Its revenue net of interest expense was $412.8 million, also falling short of Street forecasts. Seven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $443.4 million.

For the year, the company reported profit of $545 million, or $1.65 per share. Revenue was reported as $1.94 billion.

First Horizon shares have risen 12 percent since the beginning of the year but fell by more than 1.8 percent Friday.

Tesla job cuts total 3,000

Tesla will reduce its full-time workforce by 7 percent in an effort to lower the cost of producing its Model 3 sedan and make it a mass-market vehicle, Elon Musk, the electric-car maker's chief executive, told employees Friday.

The least-expensive version of the Model 3 now available costs $44,000. Musk said in a companywide email that he wants the lowest-priced Model 3 to sell for $35,000.

To do so, Musk said in the email, Tesla must improve the car's design, increase production and shed thousands of workers. "There isn't any other way," he wrote.

The cuts, which could put more than 3,000 people out of work, follow a 9 percent reduction in Tesla's staff in June. Another of Musk's companies, the privately held rocket maker SpaceX, said this month it would shrink its workforce by about 10 percent.
