"This new location is evidence of our commitment to the community, and we are excited to be on the forefront of innovative modern dentistry," says Dr. Bill Childress, another one of the oral surgeons in the practice.

Pilot Flying J truck stops offering free hot dogs

The nation's biggest truck stop chain is celebrating National Hot Dog Day next Wednesday by offering one free roller grill item, including its all-beef hot dogs, to those who download or open its app.

Flying J, the Knoxville-based chain of more than 750 truck stops in 44 states, urged Americans to "relish today and ketchup tomorrow by taking a break to savor a free hot dog from Pilot Flying J in celebration of National Hot Dog Day on July 17."

Guests who download or open the Pilot Flying J app Wednesday will find an offer to redeem for one free hot dog at any participating Pilot Flying J location. First-time users also will receive an additional free drink of their choice upon downloading the app.

"Let's be 'frank,' what could be better than a classic hot dog on a summer day? A free one!" said Shannon Johnson, vice president of innovation for Pilot Flying J.

According to the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council, Americans typically consume 7 billion hot dogs — or 818 hot dogs every second — during between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

Senate panel OKs Trump FAA nominee

President Donald Trump's nominee to lead the Federal Aviation Administration won approval from a Senate committee Wednesday despite objections from Democrats who questioned the actions of the former Delta Air Lines executive in a case involving a pilot who raised safety issues.

The Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee voted 14-12 along party lines to send the nomination of Stephen Dickson to the full Senate.

Democrats faulted Dickson for failing to disclose his involvement in the case of a pilot who charges that Delta retaliated against her after she raised safety concerns to Dickson and other executives.

If approved, Dickson would head an agency that is investigating one of the pilot's allegations that Delta failed to implement required safety procedures.

Sen. Maria Cantwell of Washington state, the highest-ranking Democrat on the committee, said Dickson failed to mention the matter in committee testimony, but senators later found documents about the case.
