The new owners of a decade-old after-hours urgent pediatric clinic in East Brainerd are relocating the practice on Saturday.
PM Pediatrics, which was purchased six months ago by the medical director of the practice, Dr. Todd Hold and his wife, Brooke, are moving the clinic from 7320 Shallowford Road across the street to a new site in the Village at Waterside. The new clinic is located next to a Fast Access Healthcare clinic near the new Publix grocery store on McCutcheon Road.
"We're staying open in our current site through Friday night and then we will move overnight and open in the new location on Saturday, " Hold said Monday.
Dr. Hold, who graduated from Berry College and the Medical College of Georgia, has over 15 years' experience in emergency care having served as a staff physician at nine hospitals.
As a walk-in clinic geared specifically to address the needs of families, PM Pediatrics is focused on care for pediatric patients as an alternative to a hospital emergency department visit for night or weekend treatment of minor injuries or illnesses for infants, children and young adults through age 18.
Labs, x-rays and many other tests are done in-house. Hold said PM Pediatrics coordinates care with a patient's established physician and makes a complete overview of the encounter available to the child's pediatrician within 24 hours.
The move was caused both by the desire by the building owner on Shallowford to sell the property and by Hold's desire to limit some of the rental costs of the facility.
"We're hoping to open another clinic in Cleveland later this year," he said.
Although slightly smaller, the new clinic will include more than 2,500 square feet and be staffed by Hold and his staff of seven nurse practitioners and physician assistants. PM Pediatrics is open 5 to 11 p.m. Monday through Friday and 3 to 11 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday and sees about 9,000 patients a year.
The founder of PM Pediatrics in Chattanooga, Dr. Eric Dunkel, is no longer practicing with the clinic although he still has a minority ownership.
PM Pediatrics uses about half of the 8,936-square-foot building that was originally built in 1989 to house a Country Place restaurant. The building and the 1.44-acre site just north of Hamilton Place Mall is listed for sale for $2.8 million, according to Realtor Jon Hughes of Pointe Commercial Real Estate.
