Shelves are stocked for next week's opening of a Food City store in Calhoun, Georgia, which will be the grocer's first supermarket in that city.

The 47,700-square-foot supermarket is slated to open Dec. 4 on Lover's Lane, according to Food City.

"While we operate a number of other locations in the area, we are certainly excited to join the Calhoun retail community and have the opportunity to serve it's area residents," said Steven C. Smith, Food City president and chief executive officer, in a statement.

The location will include an in-store bakery/deli complete with a hot food bar, large café seating area and pizzeria.

Also, it will offer full-service meat and seafood departments with pre-marinated and seasoned oven-ready products, plus a complete selection of top quality meats that are all-natural with no solutions added, including certified Angus beef and fresh sushi, according to Food City.

For added convenience, the store will include a Food City pharmacy, equipped with a drive-through for greater ease in prescription services, a Food City Gas N' Go with a five-pump station, including diesel fuel, and an in-store Starbucks.
