A European-style deli will open Monday at one of the most visible downtown corners in the West Village.

Anastasia's Old World Delicatessen, located at Chestnut and M.L. King Boulevard, will feature a variety of meats, cheeses, roasted vegetables, Giardiniera pickled vegetables and other deli items served on freshly baked breads for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Anastasia Burton, a Nashville native who worked at GreenLife Groceries and Whole Food Markets before previously helping to launch the Marketplace in the Westin hotel, is managing the new deli that bears her name. Byron Defoor, one of the developers of the West Village, is backing the new venture which will fill in one of the last vacancies along both Chestnut , Pine and 8th streets in the West Village.

"This is a beautiful corner location, one of the busiest intersections in Chattanooga, and I consider this the eye of the West Village," Burton said. "We have an outdoor patio on the front and a bar along the window for patrons to enjoy watching the city go by. I think it's going to be great to be here, nestled between several hotels in this great part of downtown."

Anastasia's will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and will employ at 8-person staff in the 34-seat restaurant, Burton said.

The made-to-order entree prices range from breakfast menu items up to lunch and dinner Musaladi sandwiches priced at $9.89.
