GE Appliances has sent pallets of supplies to the Roper Corp. oven production plant in LaFayette, Georgia, to help support employees dealing with last weekend's tornadoes and storms, the company said Thursday.

The severe weather Sunday caused power outages and damaged homes across Southeast Tennessee and North Georgia, including those of several Roper employees, the company said.

"Our hearts go out to all of the families during this time who are dealing with the impacts of the storm," said Kevin Nolan, president and CEO of GE Appliances. "Our goal is to make sure our employees and the LaFayette community have what they need to help weather this difficult time."

On Wednesday, employees from GE Appliances' global headquarters in Louisville loaded up generators, flashlights, cell phone chargers and coolers to take to LaFayette to assist Roper workers and their families.

Additionally, GE Appliances, part of the Haier Group, is contributing to relief efforts in the area through the local American Red Cross, according to the company.

The plant employs about 2,000 workers making ovens and stoves.
