The West M.L. King Boulevard extension is expected to open in August, a Chattanooga official said Monday.

Charita Allen, Chattanooga's administrator for economic development, told the city's Industrial Development Board that road grading, curbs and utilities are underway and signaling equipment has been ordered.

The city executed a tax-increment financing (TIF) agreement for the $3.5 million project. The project is being done by Highland Building Group, which is affiliated with Cameron Harbor developer Evergreen Real Estate of Nashville. Pinnacle Bank is providing the loan.
