Panda Express continues its move into the Chattanooga area with its fifth location as it plans to open a new restaurant in Fort Oglethorpe in April.

The Fort Oglethorpe eatery at 5369 McPherson Blvd. will create about 25 new jobs, according to the largest family owned and operated Asian dining concept in the U.S.

A hiring event for the new restaurant will be Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Hixson location near Northgate Mall off Highway 153, according to the company. Job seekers can apply and interview for associate and manager level positions.

The company said it offers "growth opportunities and self-development courses, along with competitive base pay, bonuses, and paid time off."

In addition to the Northgate and Fort Oglethorpe locations, the company has sites on Gunbarrel Road, in Collegedale and at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

Panda Express was started about 40 years ago when Andrew and Peggy Cherng opened their first restaurant. It now has about 2,000 locations.
